I think that any of the +20 Casting points for Channeler, +20% Damage to spells(which, BTW, affects only damage dealing spells) or -10% casting costs will give the Sorcerer class the color it needs to be distinguished as a proficient to Magic-related play. 10% casting costs will also give a solid lasting advantage to the Sorcerer and I think it is more powerful than +20 casting points, in the longrun. In my opinion, Channeler should give +20 Casting points to really be useful to a Sorcerer and distinguish the class as really magic oriented. While I do agree with you that +70% damage does seem too much, consider that if a Warlord takes the Mastery, he can do 50% damage *more* than a Sorcerer that does not take the mastery *or* equal damage to a sorceror taking the mastery. If anything it should be bumped to +10 Casting Points OR reduce the Mana costs for spells by 10%, like in Age of Wonders 2. There's already a spell with Destruction(?) Mastery that increased Combat spell damage by 50% add another 20% and suddenly Disintergrate is doing 42.5 damage and things like Fireball are doing 17 Phys and 20.4 Fire damage. While +5 Casting points does indeed suck, getting +20% spell damage is crazy.
